"It's reasonable to conclude there was probably some kind of casual connection."

"So if there was for example a joking and he died as a result of a strangulation then you could be talking about second or even first degree murder. If he was an assault and battery and he had a subsequent heart attack then you probably closer to what you would call a Manslaughter."
Cars streamed in and our from the Kerrigan home Tuesday as flowers arrived and then family. Mark Kerrigan had recently moved back in with his parents, after getting out of jail for assaulting his wife
In a statement, his former wife Janet said, "Mark made my life a complete hell. I would like to say that my heart does go out to the family, it saddens me to know that now maybe they believe me."

"It's probably the hardest thing a parent has to do when dealing with a child with mental illness, substance abuse or alcohol addiction, whether to bring them in or cut them loose."
Court records show a turbulent history. Charges of assault. Treatment for substance abuse in Bridgewater. A lawsuit filed by his parents in 2008 asked Kerrigan to pay back more than 100-thousand dollars they say he owed them for legal fees and mortgage payments. It's a history unknown to many neighbors, who now can only express sadness.

"I feel bad for them. They need privacy. They need our prayers and support."
