(NECN) - Former Massachusetts State Treasurer Joe Malone is eying a run for Congress. Malone says he is in the process of announcing his candidacy, and should have a definite answer within the next month.
Malone said he had thought about the run before Senator-elect Scott Brown's upset win in last week's special election. "I've been looking at this run, and going back to last summer I've felt like the country was heading in the wrong direction and that there was a sense of urgency in terms of changing that direction," Malone told Broadside host Jim Braude. "But what Scott Brown did and the kind of enthusiasm and energy that he built up, it only added to it."
Malone would be challenging Rep. Bill Delahunt in the 10th Congressional District. Malone served as treasurer from 1991 to 1999.
