(NECN: Ally Donnelly, Shirley, Mass.) - The family of a Fitchburg State College freshman hopes her death sheds new light on abusive relationships. Allison Myrick was found stabbed to death at a home in Shirley, Massachusetts, Saturday night. Police say 19-year-old Robert Gulla was found with stab and gunshot wounds at the same site. Police believe this was a murder and attempted suicide. Gulla was arraigned this afternoon from his hospital bed. Myrick's parents said in a statement that their "intelligent, creative, funny, compassionate, beautiful" daughter was in an abusive relationship. The college is providing counseling services for students.
