(NECN/ABC) - The Haitian government has ended the rescue phase of the recovery effort. But there are still remarkable stories of survival. A man who was trapped for eleven days was pulled from the rubble of a hotel grocery store. Rescue teams tunneled in after hearing him call out. The man, who is in his twenties, reportedly survived on cola, beer and cookies. Rescuers are using radar to check the rest of the site where he was found. Meantime, animal welfare groups are in helping victims by vaccinating stray dogs and maintaining the health of livestock. Officials say an increase in the number of rabies cases among animals poses a threat to survivors.
