(TV Diner) - Owners Ryan and Kelleanne Jones have returned to their native Connecticut from Las Vegas to open The Mill at 2T in charming Tariffville. Housed by the river in a beautifully restored, historic mill, 2T has everyone raving. Let's find out why. The menu is a culinary extravaganza of simple fare made extraordinary by intriguing combinations of ingredients, which change often. We started with the Hudson Valley Fois Gras. Like nothing we've tasted before, it was served cold atop a bed of duck confit and topped with crystals of frozen Gewürztraminer. Next up was the Nantucket Bay Scallops. Cooked to tender perfection, they were teamed with farm fresh peas and tasty morsels of bacon, which were coated with a succulent, buttery sauce. The Delmonico Steak was also a hit. Served with rich mashed potatoes and delicate broccolini, this dish was a meat lover's dream. We had to try the Chicken Three Ways. One roasted breast, a braised thigh and a Fried leg were all prepared lovingly in front of our eyes at the open kitchen. The mashed potatoes and creamed corn were harmonious accompaniments. The Brioche Donuts with Carmel Dipping Sauce were finger licking fabulous. Dense yet airy, they were covered in powdered sugar and could be plunged into a bowl of sweet caramel. Lastly, the Double Crumble Apple Crisp was sinful. Served warm in a crock, topped with rich vanilla ice cream, it was sweet and crumbly and the best we've tasted yet. Service at 2T was outstanding. Owner Ryan as chef and Kelleanne running the house and serving, make a friendly welcoming team. Patrons are able to view and converse with the chef and sous chef as they prepare these gorgeous dishes. Value was excellent with appetizers ranging from 8-$12, entrees from $18-$38 and desserts at $8. We think it was worth every penny. We gave Mill at 2T a platinum plate- only because there is no higher rating. The wine list is extensive and the atmosphere is cozy yet lively.
